The ERFAN Working Group on “Food Hygiene”-SADC Region launches first online training course entitled “Detection of Listeria spp. and Listeria monocytogenes, in food matrices, food producing environments and animals, according to ISO 11920-1:2017“.

Organized in collaboration with the OIE Collaborating Centre for Food Safety-IZSAM, the National Reference Laboratory for Listeria monocytogenes-IZSAM and the Central Veterinary Laboratory-Windhoek, the TC has the purpose to deepen topics related to these pathogenic microorganisms and to share technical-scientific updates on analytical methods used in laboratory for testing, serological typing and molecular typing, included genomic data. The training will deal with detection of Listeria spp. and Listeria monocytogenes, in food matrices, food producing environments and animals, according to ISO 11920-1:2017.

The African participants come from National Veterinary Laboratories and Veterinary schools of SADC Region as Namibia, Botswana, Zambia, South Africa, Zimbabwe, Mozambique, Angola Tanzania and National Veterinary Laboratories and Veterinary Schools from Tunisia, Algeria, Morocco, Senegal, Mauritania, Libya and the IZSAM with the OIE Collaborating Centre for Food Hygiene and the Italian Reference Laboratory for Listeria monocytogenes.

The course starts on 26 October 2020, and extends on 2 November 2020, 9 November 2020, 17 November 2020, 24 November 2020, 1 February 2021.

The TC is delivered entirely in the English language.
