ERFAN Secretariat is delighted to present three new videos produced at the IZSTE facilities, with the support of the staff from laboratories.
“Diff quick stain utilisation for the research of Hemoparasites”:
These parasites are widely distributed worldwide and are a major problem for animal health; the sample used for their detection is the blood. The video shows how to perform this type of staining to research these parasites with the further microscopic observation. In this case were not detected parasites, but it is useful to observe the procedure and a lot of images with cases of positive results.
“Isolation of Mycoplasma Mycoides In samples of animal Organs”:
This bacterium is the etiological agent of the Contagious Bovine Pleuropneumonia (CBPP) and is widely distributed in Sub-Saharan Africa countries. This disease is currently considered the most serious transboundary threat to livestock in the African continent causing severe economic losses.
The video is divided into two parts: the first shows how to perform a withdrawal of the lung and the lymph node of the animal; the second shows all the steps of the microbiological examination to isolate this bacterium. The identification is based on the observation of the colonies.
“Withdraw Modalities and Bacteriological Examination of animal organs”:
Infectious diseases are actually a major problem for animal health, especially in developing countries, where the hygienic conditions are precarious and there are not a lot of tests for the diagnosis of these diseases.
The first part of the video shows how to withdraw the parenchyma of some organs in the necropsy room; the second shows all the steps of the microbiological examination to research the presence of aerobic and anaerobic bacteria in these organs. The identification is based on the observation of the colonies.
